Frontier Designed the Frontier Tango24 with one important goal in mind... capturing the musical truth in your recordings. So how do you make a great converter? We start with superb 24 bit oversampling A/D and D/A converter chips for a smooth, quiet, and transparent sound. Then we got them out of the computer and into their own rackmount chassis, far away from the computer noises that plague typical soundcards. Frontier Tango24 has an independent power supply, a double win: your audio is protected from radiated interference caused by digital computer circuitry, and from noise transients conducted through your computer's power supply.
Frontier Tango24 gives you lots of audio clock options. From the front panel you can directly set the clock source to internal crystal oscillators, the ADAT optical input, or the external word clock input. The front panel also features individual channel level indicators and a switch that lets you select input or output metering. Each channel shows clip, -3dB, and signal present. When monitoring inputs, clip is latched so you can easily see if any input clipped during recording. Frontier Tango24 is housed in a rugged case that fits in a standard 1U 19" rack space.
Because it has ADAT digital I/O, Frontier Tango24 gives you instant compatibility with great gear from a variety of manufacturers. Digital tape machines, soundcards, digital mixers, and signal processors are all supporting the ADAT format, so you can build your studio and keep it all digital, all the time. The ADAT lightpipe format provides complete electrical isolation from your workstation, so PC-generated noises that pervade other systems can't get near your sensitive audio signals. The result: incredibly low noise, smooth sound, and complete freedom from pops and clicks.
